WHAT IS IT?
Screen Capture Format is a utility designed to allow you to easily change the file format, save location and name of your Mac Screen Captures (Screen shots).
The default file format is ‘.png’, the default save location is the current users ‘Desktop’ and the default file name is ‘Screen shot [+ current date and time]’. To alter any of these defaults you would need to use the Terminal app and change each one separately.
We wanted to make this easier, so this is where our new Screen Capture Format utility comes in! Once you install this little application, you can easily change your default file format to any one of nine different formats and you can change your default save location and file name with just a click of a button. You don’t need to remember Unix Terminal commands or restart your Mac or anything!
Once you’ve made your selections, you can quit Screen Capture Format, safe in the knowledge that your Mac will use your choices as the defaults until you want to run Screen Capture Format and change them again.
We’ve also included a Reset option in the menu bar, should you want to return to the ‘out-of-the-box’ settings.
Here’s a couple of screen shots!
